A Luxor native, Azab has formally studied Ancient Egypt for 8 years. A licensed tour guide, he enjoys taking people to lesser-known Egyptian sites.

He prides himself on hospitality and relationship-building, fostering many friendships over his career as an Arabic & English-speaking guide.

Holding a B.A. in Religion & African Studies & M.A. in Ancient History, he has conducted research with Cona Marshall & Michael Jarvis. Mauricio has served on the Rochester Public Library Archive and worked as a teacher in grades K-12.

Currently working on independent research on the Maghrib and Sahara, Mauricio plans to pursue his PhD in African History once his research is published.
